Question : Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made in the reading passage.
Both the passage and lecture are about elephants and three believes about them. there are three theories about elephant behavior mentioned in the passage, which the lecturer believes is a misunderstanding. These are, a behavior about old elephants, elephants fear from the mic, and painting ability of them.
Firstly, the article says the elephants, which is old, feel that its life is going to be end soon, Thus, it leaves the herds and going somewhere alone until death com to it and the place is near water most of the time. In contrast that, the lecture says this happens because old elephants cannot eat hard plants and they leave the herds to find softer plants to eat and this kind of vegetation is near to the water most of the time.
Secondly, there is a belief that people have about elephants, which is they can paint significant things like flowers or an elephant. On the other hand, the speed says that is not true. The coach of the elephant just uses the elephants' ears sensibility to teach the lines. In other words, when they are teaching painting to an elephant they are touching the ear and elephant memorize the line in that time, and later when they touch the ear in that way they draw the same line. And it isn't proved that the elephants know what they are drawing.
The last beliefs are that elephants have fear from mic because when they see a mic they get back and change their way. However, the lecturer says it isn't true and this reaction is just because the elephant is not familiar with mic and the other elephants in the zoo don't have any reaction to the mic and this is because they know the mic is not dangerous for them.
