The maps below show a plan of a city in 1950 and at the present. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The two diagrams illustrate certain changes in one city from 1950 to nowadays.
Overall, the city has undergone a dramatic transformation taking place in it during this period, such as adding some facilities and extending many parts. Also, this place has withstood population growth throughout this time, which accounted for 200000 people these days.
It is noticeable that in 1950, there was a business district, which was located in the city centre. Also, a residential area was situated in the Northside of this district. There were two major roads, one ran from west to East and another one went from North to South. In addition, there were a bridge in the middle of the river and a government building next to it. Finally, there was an airport which was constructed in the East of this city.
Regarding this place at present, a large lake is added along the river in the city centre and one more bridge is constructed in the East of the first bridge. Besides, apart from the business district in 1950, one more is built in the South of the lake. One major road and a bigger government building in comparison with the original one are built in the South. In the East, a dam is constructed and the airport is broadened.
