The graph and chart give information and forecast about the vehicles and CO2 emissions in England and Wales between 2000 and 2020.
The bar chart compares the amount of CO2 emission emitted by four types of vehicles while the line graph illustrates the number of vehicles. The two diagrams relate to England and Wales from 2000 to 2020.
As can be seen from the chart and graph, the bar chart shows an upward trend by varying degrees in the emission of CO2 from cars, vans, and trucks. Likewise, the line graph indicates that the number of vehicles is estimated to continue to surge.
The emission of CO2 from cars made up 20 tons, which was the highest figure in 2000. The number recorded a significant increase of about 3 tons of CO2 over a period of 10 years. Similarly, there are also an overall growth in the emission from the van and the truck from 13 tons and 15 tons in 2000 to 14 tons and 17 tons in 2010 respectively. In contrast, buses comprised the fewest emissions just 9 tons in 2000 and unchanged until 2010. By 2002, the amount of CO2 emissions from cars, vans, and trucks are expected to rise to 25 tons, 15 tons, and 23 tons respectively, whereas the data for emissions from buses will remain stable at 9 tons.
The 2000-2015 period witnessed a dramatic rise by 30 to 50 million in the number of vehicles. It is forecast that this number will increase to 55 million by 2020.
