the number of visitors to the city centre by car
The graph illustrates how many locals and outsiders visited the City Center by a car, over a decade between 1994 and 2005
Overall, Although a large number of residents visit the City Centre in a car with a gradual increase in the number of non-residents, this waved and decreased with the introduction of parking meters and traffic in the region.
Looking at the details, natives visiting the City Centre were the highest between 1996 and 1999, the figures slightly fluctuating between 9000 and 10,000 visitors. Whereas for non-natives show a substantial increase starting from about 5000 in 1996 rising to just below 8000 in 1999.
However, after the implication of parking meters, the former dropped drastically to about 4500 and varied up to 5000, the latter remained nearly unchanged.
On the other hand, the data for both plunged, as increased traffic due to the closure of Wastegate Street and Park Lane. Accounting the lowest of both categories between 3000 and 5000 from the years 2003 to 2005.
