The graph below shows the proportion of renewable energy of the total supply in 2000, 2004, 2007.
The bar chart display changes in the percentage of renewable energy supplied in Australia, Germany, Norway and Iceland in the period from 2000 to 2007.
Overall, it is clear that renewable energy is the most popular in Norway, while the opposite was true for Australia. Besides, despite some fluctuations, there was an upward trend in all four countries.
Standing at over 60 percent in 2000, the percentage of renewable energy provided in Norway increased markedly in the next 7 years, peaking at nearly 80 percent in 2007. In 2000, about 12 percent of total energy supply in Germany was renewable. The figure then continued to rise to nearly 15 percent in 2004 and reached its top at nearly 20 percent in 2007.
Comparing to other countries, the number of Australia was the lowest over the period. Its figure fluctuated over time, peaked at 10 percent in 2004. In contrast, renewable energy contained over 50 percent of total energy in Iceland in 2000, followed by an increase to almost 60 percent in 2004 then a decrease to 55 percent in 2007.
