The diagram below shows how sugar is produced fromsugar beets.
The pictures illustrate the process of sugar production from sugar beets. As can be seen, overall, there are nine stages in the process which begins with loading beets and ends with crystallizing sugar.
In the initial stage, the beets which are used for making sugar, are loaded by a lorry. Once the sugar beets have been separated from the rocks and dirt, they are then washed to become clean by a beet washer. The subsequent stage is that small pieces of the beets are made cassettes, which is followed by mixing with the water at the temperature of 70 degrees. After being made sugar extract, the milk of lime is added in order to clean the juice. Next, the mixture of sugar juice and milk of lime turn to pure and clean juice of sugar by a filter. Following this, the sugar extract is heated several times in order to evaporate the water. Finally, the sugar is crystallized by a centrifuge.
