Overall, from 2016 to 2019, adolescents in Africa tend to spend their time on social networking with their mobile phones while the percentage of those for contacting purposes by phone is the lowest.
Looking at the chart in more detail, in 2016, the proportion of social networks accounted for 50% precisely, which equalled email, digital camera and phone calls purposes on phone combined. Despite a slight drop of 2% a year later, the figure had an increasing trend and reached to 56% in 2019. While the teenagers' demand for social media in Africa had an increasing trend, the figure of those for sending emails was abserved. The percentage of email usage accounted for a quarter in 2016 and kept shrinking to 19% 3 years later.
The figure of those in regard of using phone for making phone calls experienced a different pattern which the proportion increased by 3% from 2016 to 2017 before dropping dramatically to 5% in 2019.
