The given chart has illustrated about car ownership in the UK in percentage during the period of 1975 and 2005.
It’s noticeable that over the long period, the number of people that have no car had significantly reduced while the figure for those who owned at least one car had slightly risen. It’s also undoubted that the proportion for those who owned one car still the highest out of four group throughout the period.
There was a dramatic fall of nearly 18% in the proportion for those who owned no car between 1975 and 1985. In term of fall, the figure for those who owned one car only also witnessed a drop of 7% during the same period, through unlike the proportions for those who had two and three cars they experienced a moderate increase of 7% and 2%, respectively.
From 1985 to 2005, the number or people who owned no car continued to decrease and finally made it end by hitting a low of 23% at the end of 2005, reducing more 3% from the beginning of the period. In contrary, the proportion for those owned one car, once reduced moderately, had increased, and finally hit the peak of 45%, nearly the same as the beginning of the long period between 1975 and 2005 and still the highest out of for groups. The proportion for those owned two or three cars also increased gradually to finally meet their ends of 9% and 18%, sequentially.
