The illustration shows information about how an igloo is built from snow
The diagram illustrates the process of making an igloo
Overall, there are five main stages in this process, starting with finding an area covered by hard-packed snow and finishing by covering the entrance hole with snow blocks.
In the first stage of the process, after a hard-packed snow place is found. People use a saw snow to cut large snow blocks, from hard-packed snow, which have the ideal measures are 3, 8 and 15 inches for each dimension and they are used for the foundation of the igloo. Afterwards, the edges of the blocks are made flat with the saw to fit each other before setting in a circle upwards style. Next, using a shovel to dig a hole under the wall to create an entrance, and a slightly oversized block is exactly sculptured and put on the top of the igloo.
Out of the remaining steps, parts of overhangs snow between the layers of blocks of the outside of the igloo are removed by a shovel and the gaps among them are filled by snow while the internal surface of the igloo is smoothed by hand. Any excess snow is shovelled out if remaining. In the final phase, a hole is dug in the shape of the entrance and it then covered with snow blocks to complete the igloo.
