Overall, poverty was more prevalent among sole parent and single, no children. The least popular was aged couple and single aged person in Australia in 1999, this group of people makes up only a very small percentage.
Sole parent is one of the most poorest households in Australia in 1999, the number of percentage of this group of people is about 21% ( 232,000 people). 12% couple with children , on the other hand, were not affluent. One other, single, no children is the second largest proportion of poverty families after sole parent. 19% single Australians have not children were needy while this rate among the elder citizens was fewer – 4% aged couple and 6% single aged person. It is evident that elder Australians were economically stronger than their younger counterparts.
