The following appeared as a letter to the editor from a Central Plaza store owner.
"Over the past two years, the number of shoppers in Central Plaza has been steadily decreasing while the popularity of skateboarding has increased dramatically. Many Central Plaza store owners believe that the decrease in their business is due to the number of skateboard users in the plaza. There has also been a dramatic increase in the amount of litter and vandalism throughout the plaza. Thus, we recommend that the city prohibit skateboarding in Central Plaza. If skateboarding is prohibited here, we predict that business in Central Plaza will return to its previously high levels."
In the recent times, the number of shoppers in Central Plaza has decreased. The owner of the Central Plaza claims it is due to the increase in popularity of skateboards. Many Central Plaza store owners are dogmatic that both the events are strongly correlated. It is also claimed that skateboarders have cause the increase in litter and vandalated the plaza. Prohibition of skateboarding in Central Plaza is suggested as a result revival of the customers is predicted. However, the prediction is contignent upon several questions which must be answered to evaluate the validity of the argument profoundly.
It is mentioned that there's a wane in the business nonetheless, the type of business which seems to be affected isn't included. The business term contains a wide variety of sectors which provokes difficulty in defining the relation between the both. Hence, increasing the ambiguity of the argument.
Furthermore, the increase in the amount of litter and vandalism is solely blamed on the skate boarders. Feckless cleaning staff could also be responsible for this. The customers might have also vandilated the place. Therefore, this argument on skate boarders being entirely held responsible for litter and vandalism caused around is equivocal.
Finally, it is banally stated that there's an increase and decrease in the usage of skateboards and business respectively. No proof is attested for the same. Either a survey with the help of assistance of customers on their comments or a survey including comments of all the shop owners of the plaza will strengthen the argument. In short, statistics and figures haven't been included while taking a side in the argument.
In conclusion, despite the increase in skateboarders and decrease in the shoppers in the Central Plaza is observed over the period of two years, the prediction is based on the assumptions and open to several questions stated above that must be responded satisfactorily to prove the plausibility of such presentments,
