The flow chart illustrates the consequence of deforestation. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features. Write at least 150 words.
The consequences of clear cutting of forests are delineated in the flow chart. There are total four effects those are caused by the deforestation.
Due to the heavy logging equipments that are used to compress the soil, the soil becomes hard and baked. Owing to this, the rain water is not absorbed in the soil thus, may consequently lead to the flooding of rivers. Moreover, the top soil layer is eroded because, holding of the roots of plants is less. Hence, this may degrade the vegetation as, it opens the door for pioneer species to let in. However, this degradation hinders the biodiversity.
On the other hand, the deliberate or accidental burning risk destroys the waste wood from logging. Therefore, this waste that is consumed by a certain amount of micro-organisms are lost. Moreover, plants are the primary source for the moisture that is present in the air. The courtesy of cutting the plants, has escalated drought in a number of areas as the level of precipitation is decreased. All these factors degrades the vegetation and hence, biodiversity is decreased.
Overall, the environmental problems such as flooding, erosion, less biodiversity and the surging level of drought are caused due to deforestation.
