The diagram below shows the water cycle, which is the continuous movement of water on,
above and below the surface of the Earth. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting
the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. Write at least 150 words.
The diagram delineates that how the water cycle works. The water cycle circulation is intrinsic in the formation of the water.
Overall, it can be inferred that there are mainly 4 vital steps in the process of water cycle. These are cloud production, precipitation, surface runoff and condensation of the water vapor. Moreover, the cycle manifests the water‘s journey after falling to the ground further into the saltwater intrusion.
The sun plays the crucial role in condensing of the water vapor that leads to the creation of the cloud. After the cloud production, the water is precipitated in the form of rainfall on the impervious layer. However, the rain that is precipitated and the snow that is melted render further and gets accumulated to three parts via surface runoff. The water can get collected in the lakes, ocean and ground. The water that is collected in the ground is known as groundwater.
On the other hand, the evaporation can be considered as the most substantial step taking place in the water cycle. In the production of the cloud, the water comprising in various sources evaporates to form again the water vapor. Moreover, about 80 % of the total water moisture is contributed from the ocean.
The final stage of the process is saltwater intrusion, where water from the ocean moves to the freshwater aquifers. Thus, it can be manifested that, the steps from condensing the water fog continues and repeats thus, known as the water cycle.
