tp04 the arguments that prove dinosaurs are endotherms

The lecture apparently refutes the point illustrated in the reading material. According to the professor, there are problems with the arguments about the evidence that dinosaurs were endotherms. On the contrary, the reading contends an opposite stands that there are several proofs that dinosaurs are endotherms.

The first point the professor uses to cast doubt on the reading is that the temperature of the polar region in the dinosaur ages was warm enough for reptiles to survive, moreover, the dinosaurs could have migrated to warmer areas or hibernate during the cooler seasons, which differs from the statement in the reading that the evidence of fossils discovered in the polar region proves that dinosaurs can increase their body temperature above the surrounding temperature automatically.

Another evidence the speaker adopts to contradict the passage is that the position of the legs can support more bodyweight and enable dinosaurs to grow larger and take advantage of their massive size, which is unreasonable for the locations of the legs to prove that the dinosaurs are endotherms. However, the reading states that the location and movement of the dinosaurs’ legs that were placed underneath the body like endothermic animals nowadays show that they were endotherms as well.

In conclusion, the point made in the lecture contrasts with what is presented in the reading. As the professor claims, there are findings of growth rings of showing halt of growth during cold weather in the dinosaurs’ bones proves that there are not in the group of animals which are endotherms, whereas the reading material holds that the discovery of Haversian canals which are houses for nerves and blood vessels, and assist the animal to grow much rapidly in the dinosaurs’ bones prove it is the similar function of endothermic animals.
