The chart below shows the percentage of the population in the UK who consumed the recommended daily amount of fruit and vegetables in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
The bar graph represents the proportion of British men, women, and children who consumed the recommended portion of fruit and vegetables daily in three different years. Overall, there were small differences between the amount of fruit and vegetables consumed by males and females. It is also clear that the greatest consumption of fruit and vegetables was by women while the smallest was by children.
In 2002, the percentage of women consuming fruit and vegetables was 25%, which was 3% higher than the figure for men. The lowest fruit and vegetables consumption was by children with only 11%. The year 2006 witnessed the highest proportion of women who ate fruit and vegetables, at 32%, followed by that of men and children, at 28% and 16% correspondingly.
The figure for women dropped by 5% in the next 4 years, standing at 27%. The percentage of men consuming enough fruit and vegetables on a daily basis decreased to 24%, followed by that of children at 14%.
