The bar chart compares the percentage of five different post-school qualifications based on gender in Australia in 1999. Overall, men achieved more skilled vocational diplomas, masters degrees, and postgraduate diplomas than females while the opposite was true for two other kinds of qualifications.
According to skilled vocational diploma, females accounted for just 10%, which is the lowest percentage among 5 levels of school qualifications. In contrast, this figure in males stood at the highest position, at 90%. Australian females achieved 40% of masters degree while this proportion in males was higher than 20%. There is a significant difference in the figure for postgraduate diplomas achieved based on gender. 70% of this qualification got by the male while this percentage in female just accounted for 40%.
Turning to two other qualifications, 50% of bachelor’s degree was got by the female while this percentage in male was lower by 5%. Interestingly, the percentage of undergraduate diplomas in males was twice as much as that in females, at 70% and 35% respectively.
