The chart below shows the results of a survey about people’s coffee and tea buying and drinking habits in five Australian cities.
The bar chart illustrates residents’ buying and drinking habits for coffee and tea in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart.
Overall, going to a café for coffee and tea in last 4 weeks is by far the most favored habit, with the exception of Adelaide. It is also worth noticing that buying fresh coffee ranks last in all Australian cities.
A similar pattern was witnessed in the figure for Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart. The majority of people preferred going to a café for coffee and tea to other habits, with an average of 63% from each city. Second place in this group belonged to buying instant coffee in last 4 weeks, which was chosen by 45% in Sydney and nearly a half in Hobart and in Melbourne. This is followed by buying fresh coffee, averaging approximately 40%.
Moving on to Brisbane and Adelaide, going to a cafe accounted for the largest proportion of people in Brisbane (just over 55%) whilst the most habit of Adelaide’s residents was buying instant coffee (50%). Furthermore, a similarity can be seen in the percentage of people buying fresh coffee in two cities, both around 34%.
