The chart illustrates the number of girls per 100 boys signed in three types of school education between 1990 and 1998.
Overall, both developing and developed countries increase the number of girls in all three types of schools and only developed countries are able to reach the target of 100 girls.
First of all, girls who studied primary education in developing countries were about 83 per 100 boys in 1990 then rose a bit by 4 in the next 8 years. Secondly, there were 72 girls per 100 boys in secondary education in 1998 before increasing slightly to 82 girls in 1998. Thirdly, the number of girls who enrolled in Tertiary education was the lowest, which was about 66 girls in 1990 and there was a growth to 75 girls per 100 boys signed in Tertiary education in 1998.
Similarly, both primary education and secondary school had the number of girls enrolled to 95 and 98 respectively. There was a rise in both these two types of educations, however, the number of girls in secondary school was higher than those in primary education by 3 in 1998. Lastly, Tertiary education was the only type of education having the highest number of girls and passing through the target by 5 in 1990 and 12 in 1998.
