The graphs give information about the registration of foreign and Australian students in their universities from 2001 to 2010.
Overall, the number of enrolments of local students was higher than overseas students, while the commencing rate for both students was less than the total rate.
In the first period, there were about 20000 overseas students who applied to a university while the commencing number was quite lower, which took place about 15000. In the next seven years, there was a significant rose in the number of overseas registration, which was tripled for this figure in 2001, yet this figure for commencing number increased slightly to above 20000. From 2007 to 2010, there was a similar trend between total and commencing numbers, which grew gradually and reached those peak at 80000 and 40000 respectively.
In 2001, the quantity of local registration was doubled for this figure of overseas enrolments, yet the portion of commencing enrolments made up at approximately 20000. Next, the number of local registration witnessed an upward trend in 7 years, which climbed up rapidly and reached the highest point at 60000, while this figure for commencing experienced a fluctuation trend, which fluctuated slightly to 20000 registration in 2007. Finally, the number of local registration remained stable at its peak while this figure for commencing fluctuated to more than 20000 in 2010.
