The six pie charts illustrate the distribution of water used for three main purposes in industry, agriculture, and domestic uses, which correspond with six typical areas in the world. Overall, a huge amount of water is served for the industry and farming while household use takes a little amount of water.
As can be seen from the picture, in the industrial field, Europe is the area which uses the highest amount of water, taking 53 %, followed by North America with a slightly lower 48%. In the other regions such as South East Asia, South America, Africa, and central Asia, the total amount is much less than 15%, taking 12%, 10%, 7%, and 5% respectively.
The demand for using water in agriculture is different in each area, central Asia is on top with 88%, Africa, South East Asia, and South America is the next one with 84%, 81%, 71% respectively. Finally, around one-third of the water is used in North America and Europe.
Lately, in the domestic field, South America is the region which has the highest water provision, for 19%, whereas central Asia and South East Asia witness the lowest percentage, both equally 7%.
