The graph compares the amount of acid rain emitted from four selected sectors over a 17-year period.
Overall, acid rain emission rates all went down but the electricity, gas, and water supply sector witnessed a substantial drop.
In 1990, there were over 3 million tonnes of acid rain came from electricity, gas and water supply. The figures for other industries sector and transport and communication sectors were over 2 million and nearly 1 million respectively. The domestic sector was responsible for about 0,5 million tonnes of acid rain emission.
By 2007, the amount of acid rain went down significantly for electricity, gas and water supply sector to only 0,5 million tonnes. Meanwhile, acid rain gases from the domestic sector and other industries also fell steadily. Only the transport and communication sector experienced a slight increase and hit a peak at 1 million tonnes in 2005.
