The given bar chart illustrates the US population’s drinking behavior in six different age groups.
Overall, it is clear that never drinker is the highest proportion in most of the age groups, except for the 65-74 years group. While heavy drinkers accounted for the lowest percentage in all of the age groups.
The proportion of never drinkers is above 50% in most of the age groups, while only under 50% of people aged 65 to 74 had never drunk. With ex-drinkers, only 5% of those in the youngest age group (16 to 24), compared to roughly 40% of those aged 65 to 75.
Looking at the other groups, people in middle age (35 to 54) tended to be the heaviest drinkers, around under 15%, while only under 10% of all age groups. Among light drinkers, only 7% of those aged 65-74, in comparison with all age groups, around over 20%.
