The bar chart shows the percentage of losing and wasting food in different manufacturing groups in industrial and developing nations.
Overall, the most losses in developed countries are in consumption and sales, which have similarities to the total food wastage. The significant contribution to excess food in the LEDCs is post-harvesting and harvesting.
During the cultivation and processing, the developing nations waste the most food post-harvesting and harvesting, at about 17% and 15% of total wasted food. The amount of product wastage in wealthy nations only accounts for nearly 10%. Processing has less feed loss and waste in both groups of countries, at about 2%.
In consumption and sales, twenty percent of food is dissipated and lost more in the developed countries than in the developing countries. Furthermore, the percentage of food loss and waste in the two processes accounts for 27% of the total at 35%.
