Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage

The reading and lecture are both about how critical is it to need subisides for energy source like fossil fuel? The author of the reading state that although this ensures the economic development of nation, many seem to question it's effectiveness. The lecturer disagrees. He opposes the idea and attacks each of the claim made in the article.
First, the author begins by stating that minimum global cost does not guaranteed just because government offering subsides. For instance, there has been evidence of increment in price from $2 to $5 within one year despite providing subsides. The professor believes there are flaws in the writer's position. He contends that US economy highly depend on the transportation of goods through truck, train and so on within and out the nation. Thus, granting subsides is imperative for them so as to lower the price.
Secondly, according to the writing, subsides are meant to be accord to those who are in need to bolster their industry so as to prevent them from falling. However, mostly the companies that are already in huge profit are acquiring subsides. Therefore, this proves that subsides are not assisting the needy company. The speaker on other hand points out that subsides play significant role in sustaining as well as promoting the growth of a company.
Finally, the reading passage also notes that even though it is believed to be plummeting in oil price with the presence of subsides. Yet, this has never happened till date. In addition, oil companies are susceptible to set prices keeping fuels affordable. Furthermore, with such massive profit instead of sticking to the cost , they lower their profit margin. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that subside create employment opportunity as they need man power in corporation in exploration and refining the oil thus flourish the economic growth.
As we can see, the author and lecturer holds conflicting views on government subsidy. The speaker effectively challenges the writer's argument.
