Overall, it is apparent that Perth had more fresh fish from both sources over the period. In addition, local catches were by far more than the imported quantity.
Regarding the number of fish caught by fishermen, there were 2677.7 metric tons of fresh fish in 2004, which saw a progressive increase before reaching its peak at 8136.2. Onwards, the local catches decreased continuously, almost halving its 2008 figure, despite a relative upswing to over 5000 in the final surveyed year. Similarly, concerning the total number, there was almost an identical pattern although the peak was a year later, at nearly 9000 metric tons.
In terms of the amount of imported fresh fish, having imported 464.5 metric tons in 2004, Pert saw some fluctuations in this category's figures in the first 5 years before reaching its highest number of importations in 2010, with roughly over 1200 tons. However, this figure started to drop consistently to 782.7 metric tons in 2014.
