The graph illustrates the monthly price changes of three metals, namely copper, nickel and zinc in 2014.
Overall, there were only slight changes in prices of copper and zinc throughout the year of 2014, while the percentage of change in nickel’s monthly price experienced a significant drop. Moreover, there was a switch in rankings of the monthly price fluctuation of nickel and zinc.
During the first month of 2014, nickel ranked first with a peak of 6%, six times more than that of copper. However, in February, only the proportion of zinc saw a slight increase of 2%, whereas both the figures for nickel and copper fell nearly by half. From March to June, all three metals’ change percentages continued falling before reaching the lowest points.
In the beginning of the second half of 2014, the figures for three metals’ price changes gradually improved before a three month period of plateau. From September to December, the percentages of changes in the prices of nickel and zinc both fluctuated dramatically and switched rankings, while that of copper still remained at the second place.
