The chart below shows the expenditure on three categories among different age groups of residents in the UK in 2004. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons whare relevant.

The bar chart illustrates the amount of money spent by four age groups of British citizens on three categories of expenses in 2004.

Overall, it is clear that spending habits changed as people aged. Older age groups spent more on Food and Drink and Entertainment, while younger age groups spent less in these categories. Additionally, spending on Food and Drink was lowest among people under 30 and highest among the 76+ age group.

Looking more closely at the Food and Drink category, it is evident that expenditure increased with age, starting at around 6% for younger people and peaking at approximately 23% for those over 76. Spending on Restaurants and Hotels remained consistent among those under 60, ranging from 12% to 14%. On the other hand, the 61-75 and 76+ age groups spent significantly less in this category, at around 2% and 7%, respectively.

Finally, spending on Entertainment was higher for people aged 45 and above, while the reverse was true for those under 45. The 61-75 age group spent the highest percentage on Entertainment, at around 23%, whereas the under-30 group spent the least, at approximately 7%.
