Discuss your current involvement in community service projects and volunteer activities. Describe what you have learned about yourself as a result of these activities. (250 words or less)
When we think about community service it may seem like complete altruistic acts for the sake of the community, however, a person who commits these acts receives no less. Volunteering activities make an impact on volunteer’s personality by leading to the advancement of new skills, and exploration of hidden ones in the work process.
I have been involved in volunteering for 2 years and this experience not only helped to gain new skills such as time management, organization, and planning but also made me realize features of my character, which I didn’t notice before. First of all, dedication to work was seen from the very first day of the volunteer activity. Therefore, when it comes to the execution of tasks I always try to do my best and complete it on the top-level; moreover, I cannot stand to be free and inefficient when there is work to do. In addition to the dedication, during the work process, I learned about my ability to communicate as I was required to interact with volunteers and numerous people of different ages and personalities. Last but not least, throughout the work with a plethora of personalities I faced kinds of obstacles, so stress tolerance flashed. This trait helped me to stay balanced and complete given tasks with excellence.
To conclude, community service made an impact on my becoming who I am now by assisting in the determination of such skills like dedication, communication, and tolerance to stress.
