The graph below gives information from a 2008 report about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projections until 2030
The data given in the line graph depict the utilization of different six kinds of fuel in America over a period of 50 years, these figures are measured in quadrillion units.
As can be seen that, it is a clear evident that hydropower is the only source predicted to see an down ward trend; while the others are estimated to grow despite fluctuation over the given period. Petrol and oil has the highest number during the period.
In 1980, petrol and oil stood at 35 quadrillion units, and it reached to 40 after a significant oscillation in 2005; afterward, it is expected to peak at a half by the year 2030. There were dramatic vacillations in coal and natural gas between 1980 and 2015. However, while coal is estimated to surge sharply to just over 30 by 2030, natural gas is anticipated to remain stable from 2015 to 2030.
Nuclear, solar and wind in hydropower started at approximately 4 quadrillion units in 1980. Nevertheless, nuclear and solar and wind experienced moderate growth to 8 and 5 respectively in 2005. After that, they are expected to levelling out before going up slightly by 2030, at 9 and 6 separately. Hydropower was stood at the lowest point and it is also predicted to have the smallest figure in spite of slight oscillation, at around 3 quadrillion units by 2030.
