The chart, split into male and female sections, presents the number of people (in thousands) attending either a part time or a full time course at the university.
As far as the full time education is concerned we can see a steady rise in popularity amongst both men and women, as their number at least doubled since the 1970/71. Also the number of male and female full time students do not differ significantly. In 1970/71 there were about 100 thousand men and about 70 thousand women, in 1980/81 the number of men was about 180 thousand whilst the number of women was slightly above 200 thousand....
