Looking at the table, it is immediately obvious that natural gas was the most popular in terms of source for energy production for UK users throughout the period shown. Additionally, it is also noted that hybrid power recorded by far the lowest figures over the 10-year period (between 1990 to 2000).
From 1990 to 2000, there was a significant increase in natural gas in the UK. In 1990, THE FIGURE for natural gas was just over 76 million tonnes and then rose up to 86 million tonnes in 1996 and reached the peak at 94 million tonnes in 2000. By contrast, the lowest figures namely hybrid power dropped slightly from 0.4 to 0.3 million tonnes in 1996 and then rose minimally in 2000, 0.5 million tonnes.
The figures for oil was 50 million tonnes in 1990. In 2000, while the amount of oil produced increase to 60 million tonnes, the quantity of coal decreased slightly to 23 million tonnes. On the other hand, after declining in 1996, the figure for nuclear power rose to around 35 million tonnes at the end of period.
