A glance at the given table compares data about the underground railway network in terms of the age of the systems, the length of the systems and the number of passengers served per year in six cities, namely London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles.
Overall, it can be seen clearly from the provided information that the three oldest underground railway systems in London, Paris, and Tokyo had the longest route and could serve significantly the number of passengers. Meanwhile, the three newest underground railway systems in Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles were able to serve not as much as the three oldest ones.
London's underground railway system which was opened in 1863 was the longest route in three cities (London, Paris and Tokyo) but it served only 775 million passengers annually. On the other hand, the underground railway systems in Paris and Tokyo were established later. (in 1900 and 1927) with the length of systems were half of London's (199 and 155 respectively) but it served remarkably more visitors than London. There were 1191 million people were served by Paris’s underground railway system, Tokyo's especially, it had the shortest route though, but served significantly the number of passengers (1927 million passengers).
Even though the underground railway system in Washington DC, was opened in 1976, was the oldest one in the cities (Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles), but it served 144 million passengers, which was tripled than Kyoto’s (45 million passengers) and Los Angeles’s (50 million passengers). Besides, it also was the longest route (126 kilometres) among three of them.
