you are going to another country to study. You would like to do a part-time job while you are studying, so you want to ask a friend who lives there for some help.
Write a letter to this friend. In your letter
- Give details of your study plans
- Explain why you want to get a part-time job
- Suggest how your friend could help you find a job
Dear Kitkit,
you will be surprised to know that I am moving to your part of the world to pursue PhD at University of Toronto. It is a three year long program with extensive research and field visit to the southern side of the country. I have designed the study plan in eight chapter and thinking of keeping all the expedition for summer time. my supervisor is very helpful with the guidance, but unfortunately he managed to offer funding from the anthropology center for tuition fees and 1st year's trip only. So, I will be on my own which mean I will be responsible to arrange accommodation, food and other costs including the budget of next two year's research.
To support my living cost I have decided to go for part-time job. A consistent salary is essential when you are living abroad where the house rental is not covered. Also, I am counting this as the only source to save up for research until I find any external scholarship opportunity.
Your name came up on my head as soon as I started planning for the part-time work. I remember you were saying that you have strong connection in your local area and you have already guided few new immigrants to different hospitality agencies in your neighbourhood. Why don't you share my resume with them? I have experience of working in front desk, waiting tables and running cloakroom. Though these are not my dream job, but I would be very excited to do this as I need to secure a source of income ASAP.
I can not wait to hear from you.
Best,
Shahla
