The bar chart depicts the distribution of the weight of inhabitants in Charlestown in 1955 and 2015.
In 1955, it is clear that the proportion of the ideal figure was decreased steadily when the age group gets older, from 70% to 44%. Besides that, there was a trend that the percentage of underweight people became smaller between 20-49 ages(from 68% to 14%), while the percentage of overweight and obese people getting larger(from 2% to 25%). In contrast to this, people who were underweight became more when they were older than 50 years old(at 42% finally), while fewer people had problems with overweight and obese(at 12% finally).
However, the situations were quite different in 2015. We can see from the data that, the people who reported they have ideal body declined sharply along with they grow, from 71% at 20-29 age to 4% at 60-69 age, and the unhealthy weight problem became more serious, particularly in overweight and obese, which at 25% and 60% separately.
By summarise, the citizens who live in Charlestown had become more easily out of shape in most age groups in 2015 compared to in 1955. In both years, there was a decreasing tendency to maintain an ideal weight when they get older.
