The diagram below shows how geothermal energy is used to produce electricity. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
There are a lot of natural various ways to produce renewable energy such as sunlight, water, wind, etc. Geothermal energy is also one of the natural source of electricity generation which is shown in the given picture. Geothermal energy is produced through hot rocks and there are mainly 5 stages to this, which I'll discuss in detail.
According to the diagram, firstly stored cold water from the ground surface is pumped up to 4.5 km underground to the injection well. Further, injection well releases this cold water to the hot rocks which are scattered underground covering some area. This is done underground so that these hot rocks don't lose their heat. This is known as a Geothermal Zone which warms the water and passes it to the production well, the third stage.
Hot water is then pumped upwards from the production well to the condenser which is at the ground level. The condenser, turbine and generator are connected to each other. The condenser starts producing steam which passes to the turbine. This leads to the generation of turbine because of steam.
Finally, the turbine engine starts and powers up the generator which is connected to it. Thus, generator produces electricity and extracts it to the power towers for the last consumption.
