The graphs below shows proportion of four different materials that were recycled from 1982 to 2010 in a particular country.
The following graph shows us the recycling rate of different materials across the three decades.
The most recycled material in the data seems to be the paper and cardboard ranging from 65% to 70% across the time period with peaking at 80% during 1995. It is closely followed by the glass containers material which does keep up a steady state throughout the time line.
Next in line is aluminium cans. Although, it was introduced a bit later compared to the previous two materials. It's recycling rate has seen a progressive growth over the years. At last the plastic materials has the lowest recycling rate compared to all the other materials. It's the only material with below 10% rate at all times.
In conclusion, paper and cardboard along with glass containers are maintaining progressive growth. Meanwhile, the aluminium cans are catching up to the top with a significant surge at the recent years. For plastic there seems to be a little hope in terms of progression.
