Write a letter to your local council complaining that the street where you live has become dirty lately.
In your letter, you should tell:
· why it is happening
· what problems it could cause
· what your suggestions are.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am Ell Green, a resident of 25 Woodside Street. I am writing to apprise you with the sorry state of our street on behalf of all the residents of this area.
The main problem we are facing from the past few weeks is that the rubbish collection van does not come regularly. Due to that, the litter is heavily deposited on the roadside, especially near the park. After two days, it produces bad smell that one cannot pass through that road. In addition to this, the garbage scattered around attracts insects. Last but not least, in the windy atmosphere, the garbage disperses on the entire lane and makes the whole colony look untidy.
I must tell you that the children playing in the park are most vulnerable to catch contagious diseases from the flies and the mosquitos flying around the litter. I have also noticed the frequent burning of the litter by some people to get rid of the trash and the smoke emitted from that could cause respiratory problems and degrade the quality of the fresh air.
To address this problem, I would like to suggest that rubbish should be collected daily or at least on alternate days to prevent the accumulation of trash. I hope that the responsible environmental officer like you would certainly implement stern rules to avoid the problems of this kind in the future.
I would appreciate your immediate attention to this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Ell Green
