The graph below shows the contribution of three sectors- agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services- to the UK economy in the twentieth century.
The bar graph compares the percentage of contribution of agriculture, manufacturing and business and financial sectors to the economy of the United Kingdom between 1900 and 2000.
Overall, both agriculture and manufacturing proportion of contribution decreased dramatically in the given period. It is also noticeable that business and financial contribution to the economy increased significantly.
In 1990, agriculture contributed roughly a half to the UK economy and rose slightly to peak at just over 50% in 1950, before declining to hit a low of roughly 22% in 2000. Similarly, manufacturing sectors' contribution started at around 45% at the beginning of the period and dropped steadily at approximately a fifth in 2000.
Business and financial services contribution was the smallest number in1900 at almost 4% but the figure displayed a continuous growth to reach a high of about 35% in the final year, to become the biggest contribution among 2 other sectors.
