Leaders are created by the demands that are placed on them

Essay topics:

Leaders are created by the demands that are placed on them.

A leader is a born-thinker, capable of rising to the occasion when required. They are the people who stand out in a crowd based on their abilities. They are not created by situations that they have no control over and by someone else's demands. Rather when the need arises, their capabilities are brought out best.

A leader is not created. They have natural instincts and leadership qualities that are honed by their life experiences. Each such experience adds to their personality and helps them emerge out better through every situation. Important leadership skills like persuasion, team motivation and decision making cannot be taught in an instant by putting a person at the end of a sword. It is no doubt that all of life is a process of learning but imagine if we were to elect a President with none of the necessary skills and expect him to perform wonderously simply because the situation demands. He has to be a person of great callibre, one that would be evident througout his life.

It is said that life is a test and rightly so. When faced with a crisis in a classroom, the students with the potential to be a pack leader are automatically visible as they take initiatives. They take charge of a situation and exhibit what they are capable of. In short, they stand out. When demands are placed on an individual, it is a test and an opportunity for them to display their proficiency and adeptness. It does not create a leader, it enhances one. Revolutionaries of the past were not created in one day. Be it Mahatma Gandhi or Nelson Mandela, they both were leaders who stood strongly through every test of time. It is not necessary that a leader succeeds each time. Does that make him any less capable? It took Gandhi several years of hard-work, and various hunger strikes and non-violent campaigns to bring Independence to India. That is because leaders are not created nor destroyed in one instant.

Leaders are by choice. More often than not, a person pushed into a leadership role due to circumstances may falter. Family lineages are a classic example of such failures. Simply because he is a progeny of the great leader does not mean he has the same qualities. If the son does not have the ability to handle his father's business he would not be a successful descendant, even when the situation demands him to be one. Past and present both are witness to this truth. It is the will and ability of a person, together, that make him successful in any endeavor.

Leaders, no doubt are made tougher and more capable every time the situation demands them to be. It does not mean that someone with no capabilities will suddenly be able to show the skills only because it is needed.
