The given bar chart compares the proportion of Australian men and women in six age groups who was (were) active physically in (on) a regular basis in 2010.
Overall, women did more regular physical activity than men in five of six age groups over the given period. The most physically active age group in men was 15 to 24, compared to 45 to 54 in women. Furthermore, the most significant difference between two genders was on 45 to 54 age group.
In the youngest age category 15 to 24, the proportion of physically active men was slightly higher than their counterpart (52.8% and 47.7% respectively). However, men were less active than women in the remaining age groups. 48.9% of women aged 25 to 34 were active physically as opposed to men at 42.2% in the same group. Similarly, between the ages of 35 and 64, over half of the Australian women did some form of physical activity on a regular basis, while the proportion of active men remained around 10% lower, at 42.2%. Finally, almost equivalent data at 47% was recorded in both genders who aged 65 and over.
