Some believe that technology, such as mobile phones, cell phones are destroying social interaction.
Do you agree or disagree?
Technology such as mobile phones is an inevitable part in this digital world today. It is said that mobiles tend to destroy our social interaction by interrupting face-to-face conversations; however, its importance to be close to our dear ones when they are far away from us cannot be denied.
On one hand, it cannot be denied that technologies such as mobile phones cut-off a person from the real environment who is constantly on his/her phone. This interrupts him/her to have a face to face conversation with the people surrounding us which gradually decreases his/her importance in its vicinity. It is seen that, to exemplify, people like to maintain distance with a person who prefers to call them rather meeting them personally.
On the other hand, technologies like cell phones allows us to make contact with our far away family members or friends. This to say that, if any of our family member or our close friend has to go far away from us because of some personal reasons, the best possible way to contact them is through mobiles only as face-to-face conversation is not possible. This is best illustrated by imagining a mother whose only son has to go abroad for studies, she will be relaxed only when she can have a talk with her son which is possible only through these technologies.
In conclusion, I believe that there are both positive and negative aspects of mobile phones on social interaction. Although, it affects our face-to-face contacts, yet its importance in maintaining relationships with family and friends is undeniable. People should use these technologies sensibly as these were invented to make our lives comfortable.
