The graph below shows the amount of electricity produced from different energy sources to supply the city of New York between 1980 and 2000
The line graph gives information about the amount of electricity made from three different types of raw materials in order to supply the city of New York from 1980 to 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the petroleum was the main source to produce electricity for New York in the 1980-2000 period. Besides, while the figures for the natural gas and the petroleum had sharply increasing trends, that of the coal underwent a decreasing trend.
At the starting point in 1980, the amount of electricity manufactured from the petrol was approximately 350 million kW hours, which was higher than those of the natural gas and the coal, at only precisely 100 and roughly 220 kW hours, respectively. After dramatic increases in 1985, the figures of both the petroleum and the coal significantly dropped to 350 and exactly 200 million kW hours.
In 2000, the figure for the petroleum rapidly grew up to over 700 kW hours, compared to 500 kW hours of the natural gas. In contrast, the amount of electricity made from the coal consistently decreased to nearly 190 kWh in 2000.
