The chart below shows the total number of Olympic medals won by
twelve different countries.
The given bar chart details the statistical information representing the number of various types of medals(gold, silver, and bronze) won by 12 different countries in the Olympics games.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the majority of each type of medals were won by the USA, followed next by the Soviet Union. However, Japan was ranked in the least position in this context.
According to the given illustration, more than 2,000 medals consisting of the highest number of gold(1,000), 900 silver, and 500 bronze were won by the USA. Moving on, the Soviet Union bagged exactly 1000 medals in all. Furthermore, whilst the UK bagged almost the same number of each type of medals to stay below 1000, Germany and Italy showed a similar pattern to level off at 500 in the total number of medals.
Also, while Sweden and Hungary won one-fifth of the medals earned by the USA, Australia, East Germany, and China reached on par with each other at 300 medals. However, with 100 fewer medals, Japan plunged down to the least rank in the chart.
