The line graph compares three different types of transport include car, bus and train in the UK in terms of the number of daily commuters which used them over a 60-year period.
Overall, the car is the most popular means of transport for UK commuters travel throughout the period. The number of commuters using cars and trains increased while the figure for buses tended to decrease over the period of 60 years.
In 1970, about 5 million UK commuters drove car on a daily basis, compared to about 2 million of people using trains and 4 million commuters using buses. In the year 2000, the number of car users rose dramatically to around 7 million people.
In contrast, the amount of commuters using bus declined gradually over the same period in the UK. However, there was a slight drop of approximately 0.5 million people using the bus.
In 2030, the number of commuters using buses is predicted to be lower than that of trains and cars, with under 3 million in the final year. The cars will reach approximately 9 million, compared to 5 million of commuters using trains.
