You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You have just received a credit card statement from your bank. The statement lists a number of expensive purchases that you are sure you did not make.
Write a letter to the bank manager. In the letter:
• Introduce yourself.
• Explain that you did not buy the items listed.
• Say what you would like the bank to do to fix the problem.
You do not need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
You should write at least 150 words.
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing this letter to bring to your notice some expensive purchases that are mentioned in my credit card statement which were not done by me.
Let me first introduce myself. I am Madhulika, a customer of MG road branch of Axis bank. I have been using this credit card for almost five years. This credit card was issued to me by my company HPL. I have been traveling for the past one month on some company business and was out of the station. Again, the company had issued me another card for my travel purposes, therefore, this card was not at all used in the past month.
Coming to the expenses mentioned in the statement, they all are from a mall Pheonix, which 30 km far from my residence, The items purchased are electronic items like television, fridge, washing machine, and air conditioner. I not only already have these items at my home, but also I find it extremely illogical to purchase these items again from a place that is very far. Also, the items that I had purchased three years back were from the same credit card and can be checked in my statement. However, the items mentioned in my current bill are not purchased by me. Adding to my above points, I could not have purchased these items as I was in some other city at the time of purchase.
Lastly, I had checked with the shop in the phoenix mall, that on the particular days mentioned in the statement, there was no purchase of these items. Therefore, either when generating the bill there has been some mix-up with other customers, or the bill generated itself is incorrect. I would like you to investigate this matter internally and provide me with an updated copy of the statement. Furthermore, would like to request you to issue me a new card with the same plan as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Madhulika Banerji
