The pie charts below show units of electricity production by fuel source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000
The charts give information about amounts of electricity produced by various fuel sources in two countries including Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
Regarding Australia, there were four different kinds of fuel source used to generate electricity which consisted of coal, oil, natural gas and hydro power. Total production in 1980 was 100 units in which coal took account for half of production while natural gas and hydro power had equal proportion with 20. Only 10 units was produced by oil. Twenty years later, total production saw a significant increase and reached 170 units as much more coal was employed for manufacturing. The similar movement applied for hydro gas with 36, in the other hand, both oil and natural gas witnessed a slump and hit identical unit as just 2.
Turning to France, it is recognizable that nuclear power was added in use. In 1980, France produced 10 units less than Australia and the amount of each source was relatively similar: coal and natural gas shared the highest by 25 units, followed by oil with 20, nuclear power and hydro power was 15 and 5 respectively. In 2000, however, nuclear power dominated and took account for 126 out of 180 units whilst oil and coal produced 25 units each, natural gas and hydro power sharply decreased to 2 units each.
In summary, coal was the main source in electricity production in Australia during studied periods. Meanwhile, in France, despite there was no superior source in 1980, we saw a great deal of change in 2000 when nuclear power became the most popular source.
