The chart and graph below give information about participants who have entered the Olympics since it began.

The bar chart compares the number of participants of two genders who joined the Olympics while the line chart illustrates the number of athletes who took part in the Olympics between 1924 and 2012.
Overall, it is clear that the total number of participants increased significantly in this period. Besides, the number of males who participated Olympics was always higher than female participants.
From the first glance in the line chart, the number of athletes climbed dramatically over the 88 years. In 1924, just about 3000 participants in the Olympics however this figure doubled in 1984. In the following 28 years, the number of athletes hit the highest point around 10,000 people.
With the regard to the bar chart, it can be seen a reasonable increase in both genders. By 1924, the number of male participants was 3000 and increased to 6000 athletes in 2012. In addition, the number of female participants was witnessed significant growth from under 1000 people in 1924 to approximately 5000 people in 2012. On the other hand, there was a noticeable decreased in distance between men and women who joined this competion.
