The given bar chart illustrates the amount of time spent on three different kinds of telephone calls in the UK, namely local-fixed line, national and international-fixed line and mobiles, from 1995 to 2002.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of phoning minutes in billions by local-fixed line saw a fluctuation despite having the highest figure over the period shown, while there was an increase in both national and international-fixed line and mobiles.
Starting with about 70 billion minutes in 1995, the time spent on local calls escalated significantly in the next four years and reached its peak of about 90 billion in 1999, before witnessing a considerable drop to the same number as the beginning in 2002.
On the other hand, although mobile phones was least popular among the three categories that is shown in the chart, its data increased dramatically from around 5 billion minutes to more than 40 billion over a period of 8 years. Similar changes can be seen in the total number of time that British people spent for national and international-fixed line, which was about more than 30 billion minutes in the beginning, then slowly went up to finish the period with approximately 60 billion minutes in 2002.
