Moreover, the percentages of female and male students fluctuated in a certain range, while there was a contradiction between the figures for students coming from foreign countries and students living within 40 miles of Manchester.
In 1937, there were nearly 330 students who enrolled at Manchester University and this figure significantly grew by approximately 6000 students after 8 decades. With regard to gender, the rate of female students was recorded lower than male students’ percentage by 10% in 1937. Then it was magnified to 30% with 35% for girls and 65% for boys in 1967. However, the year of 2017 evidenced a reverse and the distance was shortened to 10%.
In terms of geographic distance, this university witnessed a sharp decline in the percentage of nearby students from 55% to 15% in 30 years since 1937 and it even decreased to a small fraction in 2017. Meanwhile, the figure for students who come from 4 countries in 1937 slightly rose by 1% with a wider range of 26 nations in 1967 and it has reached a surprising rate of 32% students from over 100 nations.
