Essay topics:

The charts detail the proportion of Australian secondary school graduates who were unemployed, employed or further education in 1980, 1990, and 2000.

The pie charts reveal changes in the rate of students’ status after graduating from an Australian secondary school in three separate years, 1980, 1990 and 2000. Overall, the figure for unemployed people witnessed an upward trend while that for who choosing further education experienced a downward trend. Additionally, the percentage of unemployed students always possessed the lowest figure among all categories during these years surveyed.

Although the proportion of students who pursued further education was by far the highest in the first year, accounting for half of the total rate, this figure showed a significant decrease to 37% in 20 years later. By contrast, there was a remarkable growth in the figure for who being employed. To be exact, this percentage increase by 15% from 40% in 1980 to 55% in 2000, which was the highest position in 2000. Regarding the category of “unemployment”, there was a downward trend with a fluctuation over the period. In detail, its percentage increase by 2% from 10% to 12% in the first ten years then dropping to 8% in the last year.
